Weight Loss Program

Struggling with weight loss can be frustrating and emotionally draining. Our Medical Weight Loss program is designed to provide a comprehensive and tailored approach to weight loss. Combining dietary changes, exercise plans, and medical treatments as necessary, we aim to help you achieve and maintain a healthy weight, enhancing your overall health and well-being.

There are also several weight loss medications that can be discussed during the appointment to see what might best help you meet your goals.

Here's a brief description of some of them:

  1. Orlistat (Xenical, Alli): This medication works by reducing the amount of dietary fat your body absorbs from food. Xenical is the prescription version, while Alli is available over-the-counter.
  2. Phentermine-topiramate (Qsymia): This is a combination of two drugs: phentermine, which suppresses the appetite, and topiramate, which is intended to make food seem less appealing.
  3. Naltrexone-bupropion (Contrave): This drug combines naltrexone, which is usually given to treat addiction, and bupropion, which is often prescribed for depression and smoking cessation. It's thought to work by influencing the hypothalamus (the part of your brain that controls appetite) and the mesolimbic dopamine circuit (the reward system).
  4. Liraglutide (Saxenda): This is a higher dose of the type 2 diabetes drug Victoza. It mimics a hormone that targets areas of the brain that regulate appetite.
  5. Semaglutide (Wegovy): Approved by the FDA in 2021, this is a once-weekly injection that's a higher dose of the type 2 diabetes drug Ozempic. It's a GLP-1 receptor agonist and works similarly to Liraglutide.
  6. Phentermine (Adipex-P, Lomaira): This is a stimulant that decreases appetite. It's usually prescribed for three to six weeks to people who are exercising and eating a low-calorie diet.
